When the firstborn son to the Queen of all buffalo arrives covered, nose-tip to tail, with the spots of a calico kitten, the Queen, her Chief and the entire buffalo nation are sent tumbling into the adventure of a lifetime.

Including themes such as acceptance, diversity, female empowerment and the ultimate power of forgiveness, ‘The Calico Buffalo’ reflects the important topics of our time. It is a compelling theatrical experience that will delight all ages, delight the child in each of us. A joy-filled celebration of the right to be or look or feel different. Crafted in the tradition of a timeless fable and infused with an eclectic Broadway pop score, ‘The Calico Buffalo’ is a whimsical and heartwarming tale, designed for a multi-ethnic cast of as few as nine actors or as many as twenty five or more.

EJ is a writer-lyricist-illustrator who has written works for both theater and film as well as books for children. The Calico Buffalo Musical is inspired by his first children’s book, The Calico Buffalo. In both 2017 & 2018, EJ was named a finalist for the American Theatre Wing’s Jonathan Larson Grant

Peter Stopschinski, Music & Lyrics

Peter has composed music for Madeleine George’s Pulitzer Prize nominated play The Watson Intelligence, string arrangements for Grupo Fantasma’s Grammy Award-winning album El Existential, and the film score for two-time Academy Award-winning director Al Reinert’s film Rara Avis: The Life of John Audubon. His operas and musicals have been performed across the country from Arena Stage (DC) to Playwrights Horizons (NYC) to Center Theatre Group’s Kirk Douglas Theater (LA). Peter was named a finalist for the American Theatre Wing’s Jonathan Larson Grant 2017 & 2018
